Story
I’d like to raise a little bit of money for Cancer Research UK, to help families in similar situations to the one we find ourselves in, especially during these uncertain times. Shaving my head feels like a good place to start.
On the 29th of January, my Mum was diagnosed with Multi-focal Breast Cancer. If you know my Mum she doesn’t tend to do things by halves and so after a mastectomy (removing 3 tumours and several lymph nodes), Mum has had the go ahead for Chemotherapy and is hopefully starting on the 14th of May. This will be followed by a course of radiotherapy and hormone therapy.
My Grandma Rose, Granny Myra and my Auntie Jean and Auntie Beryl have all sadly passed away from cancer, and my Auntie Alison, Uncle Blair and Cousin Linda have also battled and thankfully survived. Unfortunately now, it’s my Mum’s turn.
We plan for mum to shave my head on the first day of her Chemo and there will be a few people close to my Mum showing support by shaving their barnets off. If you feel able to donate (or even shave your head?), my Mum and all the family would be very grateful.
What would already be a tough situation has been made harder due to the current circumstances we all find ourselves in, so it would be great to raise a bit of money in recognition of strong and brave my Mum and others in similar situations are being.
Love to your mothers and stay safe x
