Story
Bike 4 Cambodia is trying to raise enough funds to build another new Primary school in Cambodia. The School that needs our help is called Krola School, and has around 300 students. At present the class rooms are housed in two school buildings; one of these buildings is in an extremely poor and unsafe condition. The walls between the classrooms have more or less disappeared as the wood has been eaten by white ants. There are large holes in the walls between classrooms, and there are serious concerns about how long they will be able to support the leaking roof. The ratio of students to available classroom space at Krola School is disproportionate. This means the classes have to be split into morning and afternoon sessions, therefore reducing the amount of time each child is educated for on a daily basis. The new, bigger school building will offer the children a safer environment within which to study and would alleviate some of the issues they face with available space, so students can benefit from additional study time.
Bike 4 Cambodia already sponsors 2 English teachers at Krola School, who in total teach 4 classes, 5 days a week. We have set up a toothbrushing scheme where all kids brush their teeth once a day 6 days a week. This is a very successful program and during 2013 all the students will also get the chance to visit Bike 4 Cambodia's dental clinic in Tonlebet.
All donations received via this just giving page will go towards the school building project, however in the event that we raise funds surplus to those required these will be contributed towards some of the other schemes discussed above. The costs of individuals participating in our fundraising initiatives will not be covered by money donated to Bike 4 Cambodia.
