Event: Ride Across Britain 2022, from 10 September 2022 to 18 September 2022

Story

I have decided to attempt to cycle the Lands End to John O’Groats cycle route again to raise funds for a mobility scooter to provide increased access to Carlton Marshes.  Carlton Marshes is a wonderful nature reserve created by Suffolk Wildlife Trust just outside Lowestoft in Suffolk. Since opening the reserve has allowed  many thousands of children and adults to experience a fantastic outdoor space and to learn about nature.

A mobility scooter will enable everyone, regardless of physical capabilities, to explore the reserve as the site already has an extensive network of suitable paths and viewing points. The scooter is a Breeze S4 which costs £6,234

The cycle challenge is 980 miles and will take 9 days between 10 and 18 September this year. I have completed the ride before in 2015, when I was somewhat younger, and I am hoping that I will still be able to cycle that far. If for any reason I am unable to complete the ride I will attempt to make up the miles missed by other routes.
