Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On the 7th April 2024, I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. For those of you that know me, a year ago I’d have never said that I’d be running a 5k, never mind a half marathon, so this is a significant achievement for me!
I’m running for the Terrence Higgins Trust because of their great work to support people living with HIV, eradicate stigma and overall mission to end new cases of HIV.
The most recent UK-wide estimate is that 106,890 people are living with HIV in the UK in 2019. Anyone can get HIV but people from some groups or parts of the world are more likely to be affected. In particular, men who have sex with men and Black African people are disproportionately affected. People who inject drugs are also at increased risk of HIV transmission.
Being part of the LGBTQ+ community, THT’s mission is so important to me. I’ve been privileged to grow up in a world where HIV and its associated stigma are on the down, but I know many in the community didn’t have this experience and many tragically died and took their own lives.
