Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Thanks also to all those who have donated so far to my Poppy Scotland Appeal

To celebrate turning 60 this year, I have decided to set
myself some challenges to raise funds for Poppy Scotland,

This is in memory of Service Personnel, who have paid the
Supreme Sacrifice.  To raise awareness of the mental health and physical disabilities, that far too many of our Armed Forces Veterans suffer from.

The initial challenge was to complete the Catterick Paras 10, a tough,
gruelling 10 mile TAB over some arduous terrain. That was completed on the 4th September 2021 with 3 of my former Army muckers. We all started training in Aug 1977, Served together with the 1st Bn The Royal Scots. We will/have trained together for this challenge over the Pentlands and other areas of Scotland.

I have decided to add more to my challenge. The first of
which started in February, I plan to TAB 1100miles carrying weight as part of my training. I will hopefully complete that challenge with a 10mile Tab, carrying weight, on Thursday 11/11/2021 at 1100hrs at the Haddington War memorial, where I will observe a 2 min silence.

As of 11/11/2021 I have completed approx. 1100 miles.

I  completed the Arnhem Virtual Para 10 on the morning of the 24th July, in under 1hr 50mins, This is the test to for Paratroopers, full weight of 35lbs wearing boots, combat trousers and T-shirt, I can assure you it was tough!! The day after my 60th Birthday

The next challenge was Catterick Paras 10. with my auld Muckers, the IJLB OAPs. John “Penny” Pennycuick, Paul “Bing” Crosbie and Jimmy "the machine" Gunn. We were also Joined by Martin Burnett another former Royal Scots. It was an enjoyable 10 mile TAB carrying 35lbs with the obligatory beers, the night before and after. Completed on the 4th Sept 2021. (Most enjoyable)

I have also thrown in to my challenge, the Scottish half marathon 19th
September, training miles for this, is NOT include in the P10 training. This was completed in a time of 1hr 41mins 51 secs. More than happy with that.

Since my original challenges started  i added the Colchester Virtual Paras 10 on the 3rd of October carrying the full 35lbs of a flat 10 miles. Completed in a time of 1hr 41 mins 59secs

If you are in a position and you can comfortably afford a
donation, please do. I can assure you that it will be gratefully received and faithfully applied.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and making your donation
