Story
3/2/11 - JUST OVER 4 WEEKS TO GO. Time seems to be going quite quickly at the moment! Training is (was) going well... signed myself up for a 5k race every saturday, completing 10k's regularly and strecthing out with some longer runs of ~11 miles. This was until my back decided to play up! Every time I bend my back I get shooting pain down my right leg... not ideal. So at the moment I am on an emergency search for someone to mend my back.
To add to the insult of a back injury my calender over the next few weeks are not giving me any opportunity for training either! The next 2 weekends I am going to Bath and Manchester for 21st birthdays and the weekend before the race I am going skiing... Looks like I am going to be flying along the race course.
24/1/11 - I treated myself by buying some running shoes and well needed shorts at the weekend (all the gear, no idea...), so nothing more for me to do than let the serious training begin...
Hi guys,
I am raising money in memory of my Nana, by running the Bath Half Marathon.
Nana was a bubbly, lively woman and was sadly diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) before she passed away in March 2003.
MND is a progressive neurodegenerative disease attacking the upper and lower motor neurones leading to weakness, muscle wasting and eventually loss of speech, swallowing and breathing. It is a truly terrible disease with no cure and at the moment there is limited treatment available. This is why your support is crucial. With your kind contributions going to the MND association, alternative means of treatment can be sought and a better prognosis can be achieved for patients. Visit http://www.mndassociation.org/ for more information.
I will try my best to keep you updated on how my training is going. So far I have done one run and managed to get myself locked out of my house for 7 hours... so I am looking in really good shape for completing this in around 6 weeks!
Cheers,
Callum
