We provide support and fund vital research to make myeloma history

Story

Hello all.

In memory of my Mum, Barbara, I am raising money for Myeloma UK. What was originally planned as an event for Mum to see and support has unfortunately become one being held in honour of her life.

Along with three of my friends, I will be cycling the length of Britain from Land's End to John O'Groats. Myeloma UK is the country's leading charity for Multiple Myeloma research. A cure for Multiple Myeloma, the lesser known of the blood cancers, but unfortunately the fastest growing, will only be found through sustained funding of research. With little public awareness, Myeloma suffers the fate of many of the rare cancers, receiving little charitable funding.

The famous Land's end to John O'Groats route is 874 miles from Cornwall right up through the highlands of Scotland. Wikipedia will tell you that the average time taken is 10-14 days. As a way of increasing the intensity of the challenge, we are aiming to complete the distance in 5 days. This will mean 175 miles a day in the saddle.

Any donation will be hugely appreciated. Another invaluable way of giving is to register or encourage family and friends to register as a potential stem cell donor. In the U.K, this process is free and managed by the Anthony Nolan Trust (http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk/donating/howtojointheregister). Thank you for anything that you can give and I will let you know how I get on!

Lots of Love,

The McCalls
