Story
Thank you for viewing my page.
You are probably wondering why little old me is running the marathon. February 2022, I snapped my achilles which took me out of action. As a lot of you know, rugby and Bromley Rugby club is my life. Not being able to run out with the boys week in, week out has been hard to deal with. Also to add, rehab has been challenging. 11 months and I can just about run a kilometre without pull up.
On the 7th October 2022, I sadly lost a very special person in my life. Alison Kidman was a massive part of my family but more importantly, an inspiration and someone I loved and looked up to. Ali sadly lost her battle to cancer. She battled the horrible disease for 5 years but never let it over come her and she never ever stopped fighting. She always had a positive outlook on everything and her "I can do this" mentality is her legacy. Before Ali was diagnosed with cancer, she had run 8 marathons which is mental. Ali never got to the chance to run another marathon but, between chemo, she climbed mountains as well as going hell for leather with her Bucket and F**kit list!
Ali has inspired me to run this years marathon and to raise money for Macmillan. Right now, more than 3 million people are living with cancer in the UK. By 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million.
Macmillan is there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, by providing physical, financial and emotional support. They do whatever it takes, no matter what a person's needs are, we will listen and support them however they need us to — big or small.
Any help or support would be muchly appreciated.
