Story
Something a bit different to round off the rest of the year. I thought I’d set myself a wee challenge… I’ll be getting my arse onto the honking bit of kit above (the bike not me) and completing 2500km between now and Christmas Day.
This will be in aid of “The Transverse Myelitis Society”
As some of you may know my Dad was originally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis just over 22 years ago on 12 May 99 - the very day I was born. (Don’t know what hit him worse the MS or the fact I’d burst into the scene).
Since then there have been many ups and downs one of which being big Don finding out he was originally misdiagnosed and in fact has “Transverse Myelitis”. Regardless of Dad’s physical state the stubborn bugger has always pushed through life with the mantra “I may have MS/TM but it doesn’t have me”
Since joining Jonny Pierce’s outstanding “Average to Unstoppable” program, one of the big things that I have employed into my day to day life is that regardless of things that try to hold you back there’s always manageable goals that you can set yourself to push yourself that small bit further. This something that I see in my Da, attending Stirling Hall’s Hit Zone twice a week - a fella who can barely walk using two crutches but pushes through the pain and immobility to smash two adapted gym sessions a week. Inspiration.
The Transverse Myelitis Society is a small organisation which is made up of unpaid volunteers (many of which have TM themselves) who support both people with the illness themselves as well as their families.
Anyway, less of the soppy stuff, I would seriously appreciate any donation to this amazing cause no matter how big or small, anything makes a difference. Even if you don’t choose to donate any money for you to be aware of the amazing work this charity does is enough.
Thanks once again for taking the time to read, shall keep you all updated over the next couple of months 💪🏼🚴🏼
