Story
My family has been impacted by cancer. I lost my father to cancer. He was my best friend, mentor and role model. Wherever I come to a cross in the road, I ask myself what would he do in my shoes? I always receive direction. I'm always reminded he is around me by several signs. Helping these children is a perfect example of how we can honor our loved ones that deserve to be honored.
It is with this passion to help others that my wife, Genevieve and I are proud to support Barbara's Friends again through our Anniversary Block Party. This year's celebration will honor both current childhood cancer patients, survivors and their families and will be a community effort. On Sunday, September 19, I will be joined by the Honorable Mayor of Fort Myers, Kevin Anderson, Lee Country Sheriff's Office, members of the Fort Myers Police Department, my staff and other community leaders in shaving our heads to raise money and awareness for the more than 90 children currently being treated at Golisano for cancer.
In previous campaigns we've had the privilege to work with Barbara's Friends and made many friends and developed relationships with special people. On of them being Annabelle Phillips who is pictured shaving my head last year. She is a very special survivor and inspiration to us all and proof of what Barbara's Friends is capable of.
Whether being a cancer survivor or have cared for someone with cancer, we all have valuable experiences that can lift others.
We are humbled to be a part of this and invite you to join us with a donation and be part of the celebration of kids with cancer. From our family to yours - thank you for your support of an organization that has our hearts.
For the past 26 years, Barbara's Friends has helped over 10,000 local SWFL kids with cancer and blood disorders from infancy to age 30. This year alone more than 25 local children have been told they have cancer. Last year 70 children were diagnosed. The numbers are up. More families need your help. Please support our Shavee's by making a donation and share with our friends and family to make a difference in our community. Cancer doesn't care who, when or were. WE DO!To learn more about the cause please visit BarbarasFriends.org
