Caitlin and Kyles Marathon Walk for Search Dogs Sussex

Marathon Walk for Search Dogs Sussex · 12 March 2021
Kyle and I have decided to walk a marathon (26 miles) on 12th March 2021 in order to raise money for Search Dogs Sussex, who provide nationally qualified search dog teams to support the emergency services when tasked to find, care for and return to a place of safety anyone that is reported missing or is identified as vulnerable or at risk.
Search Dogs Sussex provide a 24 hour, 365 day service & the team within this charity assess the dogs regularly in order to ensure they are maintaining the required national operational standards. Search Dogs Sussex are called out directly by the emergency services when they require specialist resources for large scale searches or major incidents such as floods.
All members within this charity are volunteers and all expenses are from team members’ own pocket. All funds raised go towards providing essential search and safety equipment such as dog first aid kits, radios and hi-visibility clothing.
The reasoning behind choosing this charity is largely based on the huge rise of missing people, especially during the global pandemic lockdown. There is an increasingly worrying growth of mental health issues, which may potentially be one of the causes to situations of missing individuals. This is one way we would like to help out other people & show others that there is hope and always someone to reach out to.
