**THIS IS A TEAM DONATION PAGE FOR ALL 6 CYCLSTS **
Allan Callender, Andrew Livingstone, Elysia Temple, Nerys Whiley, Pete Thewlis & Ross Crooks - are all part of the 2018 C2C team to raise money for the GNAA!
And this is why ...
A group of 12 cyclists set out for the C2C challenge in July 2016. As they left Whitehaven on that rainy morning, little did they know what was going to face them later on that day…
25 miles into the challenge (just after a nice lunch) one of the riders took a nasty fall down a 30ft ravine landing into a rocky river! With not knowing at the time of rescue the full extent of damage caused to the rider, caution was needed to be taken as it was obvious some bones had been broken (5 in total - including 2 crushed vertebrae's)! Being in a remote part of Cumbria - the nearest and most suitable hospital was over a 90minutes drive away! The GNAA ambulance were called to assist the paramedics and mountain rescue! With having a Dr on board the rider was placed into an induced coma to be safely & comfortably flown to Royal Preston Hospital within 20minutes. Without the GNAA on hand – the already painful/traumatic rescue would have taken a lot longer!
Here is the link to the GNAA's website where they have written about the incident: https://www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/news-and-events/article/15-stories-nerys-whiley/
In May 2018 the same group of cyclists along with some additional friends for support are going to face the challenge again. Everyone needs to “Finish what they started!”
As the GNAA are a charity and rely purely on donations we want to do this challenge for them – they deserve to be recognised! Getting everyone back in the saddle to revisit the challenge seems the best way possible to raise funds for them!
