Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After my most recent kidney transplant in April 2015, I was keen to get fit and return to an active lifestyle, however, recurrent infections and hospital admissions were causing setbacks and affecting my mental health. I attended my first Climbing Out program in July 2015., where my outlook began to change. I also met other young people facing cancer and kidney disease, Jordan was one of them. He had an incredible zest for life that was infectious.
Climbing Out reignited my love for the outdoors, and I couldn't get enough of the Lake District. Jordan had invited me to come along on many walks that he'd planned; his aim was to climb the equivalent of Everest. Unfortunately his Leukemia relapsed before our first walk, and Jordan sadly passed away in February 2017.
I have wanted to do a multi-day walk for the last 3 years, but have always found an excuse; "i cant carry all my medical equipment", "my camping gear is too heavy", "ill wait until I'm fit enough", "what if I get ill?".
In the last 3 years, several of my friends are back on dialysis needing a transplant, and my friends Ash, Matt and Jordan are no longer with us. I've come to realise that if we waited until we were actually ready, we would never achieve anything in life, and so in May/June 2019, I will walk Wainwrights coast to coast with my fiance. I am doing this in the hope that I can fund a place on a 5 day Climbing Out program, in Jordan's memory.
