Motor Neurone Disease is currently incurable disease and seems non selective it can happen to anyone at any age, there have been many high profile cases of suffers reported in the press. It has become personal to me as 2 people have suffered or now sufferd from MND, one my being Mum , Joan Stable who sadly passed in 1982 aged just 39, and also former work colleague Brian Melville who died last year. Brian was a great mentor in my work as a Museum Conservator. I am raising money to support the work of MND Scotland which assists and supports MND sufferers and their carers with practical support for mobility , communication and palliative care , MND Scotland also supports the global medical research into the disease. I live in hope that a cure can be found and that current sufferers and their carers have to the support they need.
I only took up running just over a year ago , this is my first Marathon and very fortunate to have got a place via my running club Musselburgh and District Athletics Club.
For London I aim to raise money by doing Memory Miles in remembrance of loved ones who have been taken by this disease and add to the total raised from running the Scottish Half Marathon last year. Please message me if you would like to have a name of someone added to my running vest for the marathon.
