Story
Cynthia ‘C’ Pullin (née Raymond) died peacefully on 6 April 2020 at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, from the Covid-19 virus after a short illness.
As her family, we have lost a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, and we will miss her. But she will be missed too by a wide circle of friends and colleagues, both old and new.
Cynthia had a great gift for friendship. There are people who knew her all the way through from her own school-days or university years. There are former work colleagues from the Yorkshire Evening Press, King’s College London and the National Heart & Lung Institute. More recently, she spent 20 years as the librarian and archivist at JAGS, James Allen’s Girls’ School, where she made the library a friendly place for countless pupils and where she also made life-long friends among the teaching and other staff. Since retirement, her constant round of activities brought her many new friends in her sewing and quilting circle, at her beloved allotment at Morden, and among the local history group in Tooting. She was always generous with her time, her energy and her friendship.
The extraordinary circumstances of the virus mean that C’s funeral on 30 April will of necessity be a low-key family affair, though we intend to hold a bigger celebration of her life later, when restrictions have lifted. Instead of flowers, the family is asking that friends consider making a donation in her memory through this page to the Save the Children Fund, a forward-looking charity whose broad aim of providing resources and succour to future generations transcends the current difficulties.
We thank you, in advance and on Cynthia’s behalf, for your kindness and your generosity. And for your friendship.
