Story
We are doing it again! We will be walking 15 miles (1 mile more than last time - we are going the extra mile !!!!!! ) to raise money for Moorfields Eye Hospital who saved Max's sight. It will be no easy challenge but challenge accepted!!
Max was born with Congenital Bilateral Ptosis; where his eyelids hung so excessively low over his pupils due to poor levator muscles in both his eyes, that we feared he would lose his sight due to lack of being able to focus. After three surgeries (two temporary ones at aged 7 months & 2 years and then a muscle graft from his legs to his eyes at 8 years) Max can now see. Although somewhat visually impaired and very photophobic (that is sensitivity to bright lights, not fear of photographs!!), his vision is fine (with the help of transition darkened lenses) and that’s thanks to the wonderful doctors at Moorfields.
