Campaign by Moorfields Eye Charity (RCN 1140679)
Every 15 minutes someone in the UK starts to lose their sight. Come together and walk 15 or five miles around the historic east of London to fundraise for Moorfields. The money raised supports our researchers, staff and patients to help save sight.

Story

We are doing it again! We will be walking 15 miles (1 mile more than last time - we are going the extra mile !!!!!! ) to raise money for Moorfields Eye Hospital who saved Max's sight. It will be no easy challenge but challenge accepted!!

Max was born with Congenital Bilateral Ptosis; where his eyelids hung so excessively low over his pupils due to poor levator muscles in both his eyes, that we feared he would lose his sight due to lack of being able to focus. After three surgeries (two temporary ones at aged 7 months & 2 years and then a muscle graft from his legs to his eyes at 8 years) Max can now see.  Although somewhat visually impaired and very photophobic (that is sensitivity to bright lights, not fear of photographs!!), his vision is fine (with the help of transition darkened lenses) and that’s thanks to the wonderful doctors at Moorfields. Every 15 minutes someone in the UK starts to lose their sight. Already, over 2 million people across the country live with impaired vision. Moorfields believe that people's sight matters. That's why they fund life-changing eye research to deepen our understanding of eye disease and help bring new treatments to patients faster than ever before. It is why they invest in innovative education programmes to help train the next generation of eye specialists. And its why they support staff, equipment and new ideas at Moorfields Eye Hospital to help patients across the country access world-class eye care. Ultimately, everything they do aims to make a difference to the lives of people with sight loss.

Please support us and give what you can to this cause that is close to our hearts, so that Moorfields can continue to do the amazing work it is globally renowned for.

Small acts of kindness like your donation can make a big difference!
