Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving Page.

In July 2018 I will be riding the London Prudential 100 in support of the Salvation Army and Project Malachi that will provide temporary accommodation and a source of hope for the entrenched rough sleepers of Redbridge.

For several years during the winter months, our Cold Weather Shelter in Redbridge has been run by a network of committed volunteers and staff. This has been successful but we want to do even more.

Our plan is to build 40 units of temporary accommodation using 20 ft shipping containers. We'll provide support staff  so immediate needs can be met in preparation for employment and moving on to self-sufficient independent living. The site will also house a bike workshop.

The Ilford Salvation Army has run a bike refurbishment Social Enterprise for the last four years. The workshop is open two full days a week and opens on an additional day for the City & Guilds accredited Cycle Mechanics Course. A permanent workshop would expand the capacity of the project to advance education and relieve poverty by supporting people into work.
