Story
Saoirse Elsie Rivera was born with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), which is one of the four main types of cardiomyopathy. HCM refers to an abnormal growth and arrangement of muscle fibers in the heart (myocardial disarray), which thickens the heart walls. Excessive thickening of the heart muscle makes the heart chambers stiffer and smaller, which affects the flow of blood in and out of the heart.
Saoirse is 1 in 100,000 children diagnosed with cardiomyopathy.
CCF is a national organization focused on finding causes and cures for pediatric cardiomyopathy.
