Story
The fundraisers
Four friends from Burnley decided to do something during lockdown to raise money for the NHS during the Coronavirus disaster.
One of us lives in Le Havre, France and up until the spread of the virus returned to Burnley regularly to visit friends and family. Its been difficult for her not being able to return home and see loved ones during this awful time and any plans for us to meet up in Le Havre have been put on hold.
So, we had the idea to collectively run / walk 348 miles, the distance between Burnley and Le Havre over 30 days. This works out at around 5k a day each! The runs / walks will be recorded with Strava and other apps and put on here as proof of the distance covered over the next 30 days.
This is a big challenge for all four of us, despite our different fitness levels and running experience. None of us are used to exerting ourselves so much every single day and we are all pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones! All of us are trying to achieve a personal best during this challenge as well as juggling work and childcare from home.
So please show your support for our efforts and more importantly your support for our NHS workers.
The Charity
East Lancashire Hospital Trust is seen as the beating heart of our wonderful and diverse community. Our hospitals serve a population of around 530,000 and are there for us all from birth and throughout our lives. The situation we are seeing is unprecedented, but one constant is the remarkable work of our hospitals and incredible NHS staff. With your support, we can help our NHS heroes at East Lancashire Hospital Trust during this time.
You can donate directly to the hospital charity and your support will help our staff through things like care packages and important wellness support, as well as providing extra equipment, as the need is identified and requested. Your donation today will support our local hospitals and NHS staff when they need it the most.
Please donate and say thank you for all that the NHS is doing to help us.
