Story

Welcome to our fundraising page! We are members of the Bulmer and Smith labs from the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Cambridge and on the 5th March, we will be swapping our lab coats for running shoes and tackling the Cambridge Half Marathon in aid of Bowel Research UK and Doctors without Borders!

Our research focuses on understanding how pain arises in the gut, with the goal of discovering new drug targets for analgesics. Chronic pain is debilitating and greatly impacts upon quality of life, going largely untreated in patients with bowel diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

We are supporting Bowel Research UK to help fund research like ours and help find cures to life-threatening gastrointestinal diseases as well as Doctors without Borders to ensure medical aid such as pain relief continues to be provided to those in crisis situations, around the world.

Thank you for reading, we really appreciate your support!

From Paulina, Luke, Helen, Luke, Alex, Charity, Ewan and Michelle :)
