Story

We at Brown Thomas Arnotts, like so many across the globe, have been shocked and saddened by the escalation of violence in Ukraine and stand in solidarity with all affected by this emergency.

We are committed to imagining and creating a sustainable future for all, and that future is at risk for so many as this humanitarian crisis worsens.  With that in mind, we invite our team members to join us in supporting UNICEF’s important work in the region.

A note from UNICEF Ireland

Urgent Humanitarian Aid Needed

"Heavy weapons fire along the line of contact has already damaged critical water infrastructure and education facilities.

Tens of thousands of families are being forcibly displaced and thousands more are fleeing in search of safety. Right now the humanitarian needs are huge and are likely to increase.

UNICEF is working across the Ukraine to scale up life-saving programmes for children. This includes trucking safe water to conflict-affected areas, prepositioning health, hygiene and emergency education supplies as close as possible to communities near the line of contact.

UNICEF need as much help as they can get to deliver these life saving supplies. Every little will count towards achieving this goal."

UNICEF has helped save more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization. Thousands of children under the age of five die every day because they lack proper nutrition, safe drinking water, affordable vaccines and other basic necessities that most people in Ireland. take for granted. UNICEFs lifesaving interventions and programs around the world have helped reduce the number of child deaths by 50% since 1990, and yet 17,000 children still die every day from preventable causes.

About the charity

UNICEF is the leading children’s organisation, working in 190 countries around the world, providing life-saving vaccines, education and clean water. We work every day for every child to protect children in danger, regardless of race, religion or politics so that no child is left behind.
