Story
In a moment of madness thinking that my lifestyle wasn't quite fulfilling & challenging enough, I signed up at the last minute (with only 8 weeks of training to go) to do the 3 Peaks Challenge on the first weekend of July. This involves climbing Britain's 3 highest mountains in 24 hours:
First, Ben Nevis at 1,343m
Then Scafell Pike at 978m
Finally, Snowdon at 1,085m
Thankfully this will all be facilitated by some expert event organisers at British Military Fitness who will bus me and 9 other crazy (and currently unknown, random) people from place to place, but does involve starting Ben Nevis at 4am on Saturday and therefore climbing Snowdon in the dark! Training started over the bank holiday weekend and the photo attests to me being at the top of Scafell Pike in the Lake District. The prospect of doing 2 more of those though within a 24 hour period is quite frightening! But I do at least have a half triathlon in the meantime to hopefully get me a bit fitter for it...
Of course I am not doing this without a worthy cause in mind and I will be fundraising for Breast Cancer Campaign. About 125 people per day in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer and any money that I raise will help to fund innovative world-class research. Breast cancer has touched my life before and I hope that the money I raise can help those who are also affected by it at some stage in their lives.
Your support is much appreciated. Oh, and anyone who fancies joining for a training walk in the next 8 weeks, please let me know!
Many thanks, Bryony x
