I'm taking part in a fund raising challenge "9 Lakes in 9 Hours" for the charity Fairbridge, on 2nd May 2010.

I will be aiming to visit 9 lakes in the Lake District in 9 hours by a combination of Mountain biking, Walking and Canoeing.

Fairbridge is a national charity giving young people from disadvantaged areas a fairer chance to succeed in life. Every year Fairbridge wins the trust and commitment of over 3,700 young people that many other organisations find difficult to engage. Outside education, training and employment, they have often lost hope for their future. Fairbridge helps them to think differently.

Using a unique conbination of long term personal support amd challenging activities, we enable young people to build a sense of worth and develop the personal, social and life skills they need to enjoy a future full of choice and opportunity.

I believe that young people, what ever their circumstances, should be given the best chances and opportunities for building a positive future for themselves. Fairbridge is an organisation that gives young people that opportunity even when many other factors are stacked against them.
