Story
Over the past few years I’ve undertaken various races and sporting events in support of a variety of worthy charities. This year I’ve decided to concentrate my efforts on raising some much needed funds to support the Tameside & Glossop CT Scanner Appeal. Raising funds for this particular charity has been a personal request from our dear friend Kathy Malczak who has; during Covid received a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer. Kathy has spent all he adult life working for the NHS both as a nurse, midwife and health visitor; spending much of her career supporting families and children across all of Tameside & Glossop.
This year I’ll be running The Derwent Trail Marathon, a gruelling 26.2 mile race across some difficult terrain on the 11th June. I’ll be required to carry a full kit with me which includes a set of water proofs, a sleeping bag and food and liquid provisions to name but a few items. The week before I’ll be completing the Ullswater 20 mile trail race in preparation for the main race at Derwent.
If you can, please support me and Kathy in our efforts to raise money for the Tameside & Glossop CT scanner which provides medical imaging and plays a vital role in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of patients with many illnesses and diseases and is also key to rapid treatment in emergency situations. I’m sure we’d all agree, we would want access to such an important piece of equipment if God forbid we ever needed it ourselves or for a loved one.
