Story
For those that don't know, the DMRC (Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre) provides critical and vital support to injured servicemen and women from the Armed Forces.
As a physiotherapist myself and having had many colleages work for the DMRC when it was based at Headley Court I know what amazing and challenging work they do, day in day out.
While the DMRC itself is government / public funded this does not cover all of the services and events that those undergoing rehabilitation need and benefit from. This is where the DMRC Benevolent Fund steps in.
So, what are we doing? Cycling all the way from the DMRC in Stanford on Soar (approx middle of England) down to Monaco. That pretty much has us riding 850 miles over 9 days, and lets face it we'll probably make a few wrong turns so lets call it 100 miles a day for 9 days.
We will be led by former Olympic Cyclist Bryan Steel (thank god!) so hopefully all will go smoothy. Having said that, this is a HUGE challenge for all of us - though it pales in comparison to the sacrifice that British servicemen and women make and the challenges they often face from life changing injuries, supported by the DMRC.
If you are at all able, I would be most grateful of any donations you can make as we Pedal to the Principality for the DMRC Benevolent Fund.
