STOP Suicide
Campaign by CPSL Mind (RCN 265087)
STOP Suicide is a charity-led campaign that aims to build awareness of how everyone can play their part in preventing suicide in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Story

Suicide is one the leading causes of death and during the current covid crisis, risk factors become even higher than usual.

I will be tallying my weekly walked mileage and undertaking a series of longer walks to complete the equivalent of Land's End to John O'Groats and back.  (That is 874 miles as the swallow flies in each direction).  Come and join me!  (Covid restrictions permitting).  It will be great to see people at the start, end or for a bite to eat along the way.  I'm keen to get to new places as well as more familiar haunts and hope to see some people I have not seen for some time and to meet new friends along the way.

Once we are into the 'rule of 6' I look forward to walking with groups.

One aim is to complete the Chevy Chase route in Northumberland (walking, not running) with my sister.  This will be a first for me, though not for her.  There'll be local walking in and around Cambridge and lots of other ideas, too.  Let me know if you have an idea of a good day's walking - anything from 6 - 26 milies.  St Cuthbert's Way has been suggested and I'm also keen to do other 'firsts' like High Force and new parts of the coastal path.

I'm also hoping to get some wildlife 'firsts' - otters and cranes would be great.  Already as I start I have seen a merlin and woodcock for the first time.  Culinary delights and the discovery (and re-discovery) of great British pubs along the way will also feature.

I hope to see you along the way.
