Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please support this important project by giving as much as you can.
At the end of October, I will be part of a team cycling more than 400km across remote parts of the Himalayas in Nepal. We are hoping to raise over £100k to rebuild a number of schools.
The infrastructure in Nepal was devastated by the earthquakes in 2015 – none more so than the schools, and particularly those in the remote parts of the country. The Nepalese people are working hard to rebuild (literally) their communities and their lives - and we can help massively by supporting them financially.
In 2014, I was privileged to work in Nepal and saw first hand how much education is valued by families. Parents and children go to enormous lengths to get to school and then (hopefully) college. One of my abiding memories is when I was trekking to the Annapurna base camp. At about 7am in the morning, two children appeared on the hillside path at an altitude of approximately 9000ft in full school uniform with their bags and books. They were trotting to school - but we were in the middle of nowhere (the nearest road was 8 hours walk away). Their school was two hours walk away - and they did that every day, and so did their friends. I don’t know whether their school was destroyed – but I do know that for many children, the loss of their school had, and has, a massive impact on their lives.
Please help. Your donation will have a huge (and disproportionate) impact. It will add multiple value. The numbers are simple. £20,000 rebuilds a school. Schools rebuild lives! Please give as much as you can. I will be very grateful, but more importantly you will make a major difference to the children, parents and communities in one of the economically poorest countries in the world – but one where the spirit, smile and inner strength is as rich as you can imagine.
