Story
Brooklands College students and staff will take part in a fun challenge to walk 101 miles in 101 days, to raise money for charity, to improve their morale and to keep fit and healthy during this national lockdown.
Inspired by the incredible fundraising totals raised by Captain Sir Thomas Moore in April 2020, students and staff can send in the number of miles they have walked each day, in a challenge to each walk 101 miles over 101 days.
Director of Curriculum Terrie Carter said “In 2020, Captain Sir Thomas Moore walked to celebrate his 100th Birthday on 30th April. Our walks, for 101 days to recognise Sir Toms next birthday, will begin on 19th January and end 101 days later, on his birthday this year”.
Everyone at Brooklands College is welcome to join in with the challenge, which is just one of a range of student activities we have organised to help support students during lockdown. We hope these light hearted activities will encourage students to join in and this will help them to continue to feel part of a team and enrich their college experience this year.
Walking is one of the easiest ways to keep healthy. In addition to taking part in this walking challenge, students who are part of the ‘photography for fun during lockdown group’, can snap photos along the way too.
Kind regards,
