We build constructive relationships to improve captive animal welfare globally

Story

On March 1, 2020 Karl and I will be running the Vitality Big Half Marathon to raise money for Wild Welfare. We each want to raise £300 for a total of £600 (That's $740!). So why are we running for Wild Welfare?

I would not be the conservationist and researcher I am today if it wasn't for the education and inspiration of all the zoos and aquariums I have visited and worked for. However these facilities are not created as equals and not every animal is given the proper care it needs. That is where Wild Welfare comes in.

Wild Welfare is the "first captive wild animal welfare charity, set up by zoo professionals, that is solely focused on improving welfare standards by uniting leading zoos and animal welfare NGOs around the world." They do this by providing a positive, inclusive approach when teaching sub-standard facilities about proper veterinary care, husbandry practices, and animal enrichment. Please take the time to visit their website and read up on some of their latest projects!

Wild Welfare is a global organisation committed to improving animal welfare for captive wild animals. By working together with animal welfare organisations and captive wildlife facilities, including zoos, aquariums and sanctuaries, we achieve long-term and sustainable solutions to the most critical issues facing wild animals in captivity. Our vision is a world where every captive wild animal is able to thrive and live a good life. Founded in 2012, Wild Welfare is a UK registered charity working globally to improve welfare for wild animals living in captivity. We are the first captive wild animal charity that is solely focused on improving welfare standards by uniting animal welfare NGOs and captive wildlife facilities around the world. Our projects help wild animals living in poor conditions in captivity. Using our knowledge and experience we build constructive relationships with animal welfare organisations, captive wildlife facilities and local communities, ensuring changes can be made to improve animal welfare.
