Story
On July 1st 2017 my brother Braden Coates was paralysed from his chest down in a club rugby game at 25 years of age. Everyday Braden works extremely hard to achieve his goal of walking again having made huge improvements since his accident. He hasn’t let anything hold him back from doing what he loves and continues to run a dairy farm, go hunting, fishing etc with the support of his amazing partner Hayley and awesome friends and family. After going through this tragic event by my brothers side, along with our family, it’s fair to say you would never ever wish this kind of injury upon anyone.
I’ll be stepping out of my comfort zone to take on the Gran Paradiso challenge In Italy walking 100km in 5days, for Braden first and for most, For Khan, Casey and Ben who went through SCI injuries around the same time as Braden. I’m also doing it for my own personal discovery and healing and also to raise awareness for all Spinal Cord Injuries and to hopefully raise funds for the M2M foundation to give back to those who will face similar challenges in life.
The Millimetres to Mountains Foundation and Ed Jackson’s journey as a recovering quadraplegic and wanting to help and inspire others is incredible and I encourage you to donate if you can!
Millimetres to Mountains aim is to be the catalyst for positive change in people facing challenges in life. Through discovery and adventure we provide a platform for individuals to redefine their own limitations and take steps towards a brighter future.
