Story
On the 18th of August, we lost Adam's Dad to a disease that many people (including doctors) have never heard of: Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA). MSA is a neurological condition that shuts down the automatic systems in your body, making the sufferer lose their independence, until breathing become effected.
Unfortunately, being a rare condition, there is no cure, no prevention and all the treatments are currently experimental. The MSA trust is the only charity in the UK working to fund research into causes and treatments while also supporting sufferers and their families.
From the 5th of September, we will be paddleboarding 260km (160miles) from Bristol to London, to raise money for this amazing charity that has been so supportive of our family.
Adam and Helen need to portage 125 locks, go through 3 tunnels and cope with traffic and chop on the Thames, so it’s going to be a pretty tough expedition. As far as we know, Helen will be the second woman to complete this.
We are hoping to raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity, who we are so fortunate to have had by our sides during our Dad’s condition, so that they can continue their work to improve the outcomes for other families.
This is the kind of adventure that Dad would have loved to do himself before he became ill, so it seemed like an apt way to honour him.
All donations, no matter how small, are truly appreciated.
Thank you.
