Story
We are fundraising to create a Bright Space for the Metropolitan Police at Lewisham Police Station’s Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) suite.
The ABE suite is used by police officers to interview children who are victims of or witnesses to sexual abuse and exploitation. The children will usually be traumatised, anxious and frightened, and may have to come to the police station on multiple occasions to provide their evidence.
The Bright Space will incorporate a family room, and two interview rooms which will be transformed from bare office space into inviting,
comfortable and child friendly surroundings; resourced with toys, games, books, puzzles, relaxation toys, art and craft materials and comfortable seating and soft furnishings. It is designed to help children feel safe, reduce their anxiety and make the experience of providing evidence less intimidating; this serves the purpose of helping children to give their best evidence to police officers, to help secure the conviction of perpetrators of the abuse.
The total cost of the project is £4,733, and we are fundraising with other Bright Horizons nurseries in the area to raise £1,185. We would
love your support! Thank you!
