Story
I am running my first ever half marathon to help raise money for Alzheimer’s research U.K. I am not much of a runner, so this is is going to be a great personal challenge, where I can hopefully also raise some money for a great cause.
I am inspired to run this half marathon in memory of my Grandpa Peter Ayre. My Grandpa sadly suffered and died from Alzheimer’s in 2015. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease and seeing this damage first-hand motivates me to make a difference.
There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's disease or any other type of dementia. Dementia research is also desperately underfunded, yet it will effect so many of us either first hand or through loved ones.
Alzheimer’s research UK’s mission is to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025. Their vision is a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia. This is a world I want to be a part of making.
