Story

On the Bank holiday weekend of 26-28th May I shall be running from Gas Street Basin in Birmingham to Little Venice in London - a total of 145 miles non-stop along the delightfully scenic!! Grand Union Canal.

You may think that as it is flat it should not be too hard - think again - it is over 5 marathons, there are 100's of locks and it IS NOT that bloody flat!

I leave Birmingham at 6am Saturday morning and need to get to London by 3am Monday morning to complete the run successfully, There are 100 of us starting out, and on average less than 30 make it to London. I am looking for a time less than 40 hours (so for those who cannot add up- that means finishing before 10pm Sunday).

I am raising money for St.Roccos Hospice in Warrington (a self funded hospice for terminally ill patients that looked after my father-in-law brilliantly before he died of cancer in May last year), and St.Josephs Family Centre in Warrington that provides counselling and assistance to families - specifically counselling for abused children and bereavement counselling  for young children.

Thank you for visiting. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: they will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.

Training is going okay - only another 3 weeks of running home from work and riding the turbo into the small hours, then a couple of recovery weeks before the day.

If you want to know more about the race go to www.gucr.co.uk

Well with less than 3 weeks to go I am just waiting now - winding the training down. Also, good news as I received a mail today to say that 20 people have now dropped out (WIMPS!) so there are, at this moment, 83 intending starters.

12 days to go - but unfortunately I had a bad cold most of last week. This means that I will keep running until the weekend as opposed to Wednesday as originally planned. Then it will be a week of keeping loose and hoping that the cold has not caused too many problems.

Feeling pretty good - and wishing it was tomorrow!!!
