Gobi Challenge 2009 · 16 June 2009
Thank you all for your tremendous support last year on the Cork to Galway bike ride, but another year, another challenge and another opportunity for us to try and help those who are not as fortunate as we are.
On 1st August I will be one of a group attempting the Gobi Challenge 2009. We will walk 140 miles through the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, in six and a half days, in temperatures around 40 degrees centigrade, carrying all our own food and necessary kit. The Gobi Desert is at 5000 feet above sea level making it one of the highest deserts in the world.
For 2009, our main beneficiaries are:
Demelza House Children's Hospice, the only Residential Hospice in Kent, East Sussex and South East London caring for life limited children and their families. (www.demelza.org.uk)
Get Kids Going, this is a National Charity which gives disabled children and young people the opportunity of participating in sport by providing them with specially built wheelchairs and promoting them in a variety of sports. (www.getkidsgoing.com)
I understand that there are many calls on your generosity, for all manner of good causes. I would like to make one more. If you can please make a donation to O2e. It will help us help our nominated charities and provide that extra encouragement which I will surely need to complete the event. All costs for O2e's events are born by the competitors. 100% of your donations go to the charities.
Thanks for visiting my page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Ordinary to Extraordinary (O2e) gets your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
