Story
MS is a debilitating, unpredictable and incurable neurological disease which can affect all of us. It is most commonly diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 and is something that people live with for the rest of their lives. There are thought to be approximately 140,000 people living with MS in the UK. Of which, it is estimated that more than 3,500 people are living with MS in Kent and Medway
The Kent MS Therapy Centre in Canterbury is a self-funded charity has been operating since 1984. It is the only dedicated Therapy Centre in Kent that operates six days a week to provide non-invasive therapies & support clinics to people suffering from MS to relieve the symptoms of MS and improve quality of life.
I recently celebrated my 50th birthday year and was gifted a tandem parachute jump as a birthday present by my twin brother Paul. This was one of the items on my ‘bucket list’ and I always vowed that if I got the opportunity to jump then I would do it to raise funds for a local charity.
I have chosen to jump for the KMSTC in Canterbury as my girlfriend, Claire, suffers from this condition and has first hand experience of the excellent and much needed services that the centre provides to those with MS in the local area.
As an independent charity, the centre does not receive any Government or NHS funding so every penny raised comes from charitable donations and fundraising activities. Since the jump is fully paid, all money raised will go directly to the charity to fund their services.
Many thanks for taking the time to read my story and thanks in advance for your support for this worthy cause.
Brian 😃
