Story
I'm running on behalf of Friends of Frankie which continues to raise funds for SUDC UK and to date has raised over £100,000. I'm Frankie's grandpa and Frankie was just over 3 years old on the day he fell asleep - a devastating day, not just for the family but particularly his parents, Sarah and James. Friends of Frankie has brought together a group of fantastic people, made up of family, friends and members of the community, who want to provide a sustained legacy in Frankie's name.
I love running so it's a natural thing for me to use this passion to raise funds for something that I care very deeply about. 12 new half marathons (one per month) is a bit of a personal challenge but I'm determined to make sure I complete this. I will keep you updated on this page each time I run.
SUDC UK is dedicated to raising awareness, funding research and helping families affected by Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). SUDC occurs in children aged 1-18 years. The cause of death remains unexplained after a thorough investigation. 40 children die without reason every year in England and Wales alone; more young children than to traffic accidents, drowning or fires. The sudden unexplained death of a child is one of the most under-recognised medical tragedies of our time.
