My father Hugh passed away in July 2004 having battled with ill health and heart problems for several years.  He underwent a triple heart bypass and although life was better for a bit so many more complications came his way.

As a servant of God to the ministry of the Salvation Army since 1983 my father inspired and helped so many people who were less fortunate than himself.  It brought so much pleasure to his life to give to others and to do without himself and to see a smile and happiness in so many other lives.

Mair and I want to try and give a little back too.  This will be Mair's first ever half marathon and road race, at the age of 51 years; this in itself will be a huge achievement and hopefully inspire others to improve their lifestyle and try to maintain a healthy heart.
