Story
In 2015 I cycled the length of the UK in 9 days. In 2018 I then cycled the widest point of the UK through Wales and England in 5 ,days and then in 2019 I walked the same route in 11 days. All of this I did solo and unsupported carrying all essential equipment (tent , sleeping bag etc) with me. Having turned 70 yrs old in February this year I decided to end my personal challenges after thinking I had done enough. However all this changed with the invasion of Russia into Ukraine. The plight of what the displaced families have experienced and had to endure has completely sickened and upset me. I tried to comprehend what it would be like to lose all of your life long family possessions. It would be heartbreaking. I knew then that I had to do my bit to help them, so have decided to walk the complete length of the UK from John O' Groats to Lands End. A distance of approximately 900 miles. Again I intend to do this solo and unsupported carrying the essentials with me. I hope to complete the journey between 30-35 days. I will be self funding this challenge to enable all proceeds to go to the Red Cross to provide medical care, food and clothing etc to the displaced families of Ukraine only. Training has been going well and with the penultimate week now here the mileage will be piled on. The week's training before I head up to John O Groats will be tapered down slightly to store up my energy of which no doubt I will need.
During the walk I will be giving frequent updates so you will be able to follow my progress.
