Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Brian Armstrong, an Alternatives member of staff, and I am attempting to set a new world record and I would like your support. I am aiming to complete 50 Half-Distance Triathlons in ONE Calendar year. This consists of the following:
A half distance triathlon consists of a 1.2-mile swim.
A 56-mile cycle.
A 13.1-mile run.
In one of these alone I will travel 70.3 Miles. The current world record is 24 held by Michael Mendoza.
I am aiming to raise funds for Alternatives’ mental health and counselling services this is a community based therapeutic service helping people at their point of need. The aim is to develop this into a unique service where we can work with a person's mental health and addictions at the same time.
Alternatives works with some of the most vulnerable and at-risk groups of people and through my work, I have witnessed high levels of trauma, addiction and poor mental health that ravages these communities.
I want to use the “Tri50” challenge to help raise money for the mental health service within Alternatives.
When I achieves my goal, I will have:
Swam a total of 60 Miles.
Cycled a total of 2,800 Miles.
Ran 655 Miles.
A total journey of Three Thousand Three Hundred and Fifteen MILES.
Exercise has helped change my life. If I can push myself to do these amazing things it will encourage others to also push themselves beyond what they currently see as their limits. As part of the Tri50, I want to encourage those who doubt their ability to achieve goals in life by asking them to come and take part in some way in this massive challenge. I want the funds raised through this challenge to help provide mental health services at a community level.
If you would like to be involved, please email ben@alternativesrj.co.uk or call 02890311420.
We are grateful for your support,
Regards,
Brian Armstrong
