Story
The Neonatal Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary is one of four Tertiary Neonatal Units in Yorkshire. We have 31 cots and care for babies from all over the Yorkshire and Humber region and frequently beyond.
Our NICU cares for some of the sickest and earliest babies and as such parents and families spend significant amounts of time on our unit watching their babies grow and develop.
In addition to the work and research we do to create better outcomes and improve care for our babies we have recently embarked on a programme of quality improvement for families on the unit. This is with an aim of making long and short stays as comfortable and homely as possible.
By doing this we hope to reduce anxiety for families and provide a truely positive experience.
We were recently recognised for our positive work in this field and others when we became the first NICU in the United Kingdom to receive UNICEF 'Baby Friendly' accreditation. We also received positive feed back in our NHS England peer review, receiving praise for the way we care for families.
Money raised will go directly to helping us maintain this high standard and allow us to make family experiences even better.
Every penny helps.
