Story
Hi All,
The time has come for the annual fundraiser, and following the remarkable success of last year’s charity football match raising a staggering ₤6,500 for Mind Jersey, I thought it would only be fair to put myself through some personal pain again this year and what better way than to plod around Sydney for 42km in just under 2 months…..
This has led me to enter the Sydney Marathon (17th September 2017). I will once again be raising sponsorship funds for Mind Jersey, for those of you that don’t know they are an independent local charity that provides support to individuals and their families living with mental illness based in Jersey, Channel Islands.
As most of you are aware this charity is extremely close to my heart following the shattering passing of our amazing best friend James Bailey early last year aged 22. Without going into too much depth, James faced an extremely tough battle with mental illness and on 21 January 2016 he sadly took his own life, although we all believe James is now in a better place there is nothing more we would love than to have him back causing mischief with us all.
Mind Jersey are working evermore within local schools and communities to ensure that any human being no matter the age has somebody to talk to, as well as trying to identify before it is too late individuals who are in desperate need due to mental health illness.
Thanks in advance for any donations it is greatly appreciated and I can honestly say that it will make a difference to an amazing local charity that provides invaluable support to such a wide range of people.
For anyone based in Sydney it would be great to see as many of
you at the finish line (if I get there) as possible for support and a celebratory beer. Here’s to the next 2 months of blisters, sore legs and very little alcohol......
