We provide support to blood cancer patients to help them through their treatment

Story

On Sunday 29th April 2018 our little hockey club are back on the road to Lee Valley Hockey Stadium, London.  The old birds 'Over 45's' are Finalists once again!  However this journey is even more special and has an emotional attachment. One of the clubs dearest friend/player/veteran, Jane Wheeler (the heart of our club) is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.  Jane was player manager of the O45’s team until she became ill at the beginning of this year. The care she is receiving in hospital is amazing however like most charities they always need funding; to support those people receiving intensive chemotherapy.

LINC’s (The Leukaemia & Intensive Chemotherapy Fund ) remit is to improve the care of cancer patients receiving intensive treatment within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Whilst a patient's individual life is put cruelly on standstill, the outside world continues to make it's demands.  This is when LINC is there to provide help, care and support to patients and their families.

We would like to raise some funds to support LINC and in particular the Rendcomb Ward (the ward Jane is on) at Cheltenham General Hospital.  One of LINC's main emphasis is on upgrading the Rendcomb Ward side rooms to at least make patients care much more comfortable whilst they go through intensive chemotherapy.

The barmy army of pink supporters and players on finals day will be doing some crazy things, dressing all in pink, playing some games etc to help raise funds to support this charity. The club also hits a mile stone this year celebrating it's 70th birthday on 8th July.  Going back to old skool 'Vintage Wheeler' days we are holding a grass tournament and all proceeds raised on the day are in aid of LINC.

We would love to extend our pink family in raising awareness  ....can you join forces with our hockey family to help and support the care of cancer patients.

Your support is very important to us and to LINC and their patients. Without your/our generous donations LINC would not be able to continue to provide this level of patient care.  All donations will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you. Love the Bret Hockey Family xx
