As most of you are aware, I too became one of the statistics last year.  Just from a routine mammogram I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  Thanks to the screening programme my cancer was diagnosed early and treated by a caring team at Derby Royal Hospital. I hadn't experienced any of the symptons or signs  they tell us all  to look for, and it was only because of the screening programme that this was found in its early stages. I felt that I was one of the lucky ones to  have a lumpectomy and 5 weeks of radiotherapy, compared to thousands of women who have to undertake a  mastectomy, chemotherapy and more.  I urge every woman in the UK to keep their mammogram appointments, it only takes a few minutes and it could save your life, It did mine!!
