Campaign by MILLION MINUTES (RCN 1140079)
A Million Minutes of Silence is a simple idea - each minute is sponsored to raise money for social action projects supporting young people. Throughout Lent schools, parishes, and individuals will help clock up a million minutes!

Story

At the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service, we believe in supporting all young people achieve their full potential. Therefore, 40 individuals and groups across Essex and East London will be staying silent in their homes, schools and workplaces to raise money for the incredible work of Million Minutes.

We think Lent 2021 is a great time to come together in action, reflect on the experiences of the past year, and do something different: participate in silence.

Our silence will speak up for young people like Shanea who at age 18, has committed her life to supporting young people in her local community of Newham, where unemployment, poverty, and unfair treatment are plaguing the young, especially young people of colour. Despite facing setbacks in reaching out to young people who need support during the pandemic, siLENT is supporting Shanea to adapt and meet young people where they are. She is building an online community to continue her peer-to-peer accompaniment and empowering young people to use their voice and raise awareness of the issues impacting their community. Please support our fundraising efforts today!
