Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·
Hello People,
I hope that you are all oozing good health and thank you for reading this.
Heidi had the "bright" idea some months ago of the two of us running the London marathon. Unfortunately, this is now something of a reality and now the fatties REALLY are going running. Or at least walking at speed. For a bit. And possibily needing some sort of bypass grafting by mile 8....
The charity we are running for is called Headway. If you have not heard about them, they please go and check out their website: www.headway.org.uk.
Headway's area of interest is head injury. They work that they do focuses on three important areas: prevention, rehabilitation and support for families.
As you may know, we both have an interest in this problem and have both worked in the NCCU at Addenbrooke's where the devastating (and it REALLY can be) impact of acute brain injury is demonstrated every day. About half of ALL deaths in people under 40 are due to head injury and the effects on those that survive are both catastrosphic and life-long.
Please check out the website to see how Headway makes a difference.
Anyway - serious bit over. Clearly we be grateful for a load of your cash. But not as much as Headway. So please think about sponsoring us.
Thanks for reading!! And if you are in London on April 26th, it would be great to see you. But if you are waiting at the finish line, you may be there some time...
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Headway - the brain injury association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
