Story

THE LONE RANGER & TONTO DID IT!!!

We managed to cycle the whole 51 miles and even somehow stayed on for the hills without having to get off and push. That's despite not getting in as much practice as we would have liked because of the rubbish weather in the lead up to the big day. But assisted by strategically positioned padding and the fine weather we managed to make it all the way from Glasgow to Edinburgh in one piece. Photographic proof is attached!

Even as we neared Glasgow Green for the start the confidence levels were not high. They dropped even lower when the first group of cyclists we met on the way were all wearing T-shirts saying 'sponsored by Cooperative Funeral Care' - not the best omen. But we got on our bikes and went for it - Lex literally on a brand new bike that he had only bought at 5.30 the previous evening - he surely deserves the award for the shiniest newest bike on Pedal for Scotland!!

All in all, the 'fresh 'n' lo Pedal for Scotland was a great event and having 7,500 other cyclists - some of whom were in much worse shape than us - around to encourage us was fabulous. A truly great event that I would recommend you to try out next year.

A huge thank you very much for your donation. It really means a lot to us and to St Margaret of Scotland Hospice. It will probably mean even more to our aching legs and other bits that will take a while to recover! But it's for a great cause.

Many thanks

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page - Brendan and Lex Get In The Saddle for St Margaret of Hospice .

As you may be aware my mum died last December. The last months of her life were not easy but the care she received at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in was truly wonderful. I think I owe the Hospice something in return.

So with a degree of uncertainty – and possibly a touch of madness – the intrepid and I, a bit like the Lone Ranger and Tonto, have committed to cycle from to on 13th September as part of Pedal for . 52 miles in one day on our creaking bodies, which are both now the wrong side of 50, will be a considerable challenge. Lex is even going to remove his stabilisers for the day. But the prospect of achieving our £1000 target of sponsorship for the Hospice will undoubtedly keep us pedalling / walking /crawling! Your support and sponsorship, no matter how small (or large), would be wonderful and a tribute to the amazing staff at St Margaret’s.

Your generosity in achieving our sponsorship target is much appreciated. A huge thank you from Brendan, Lex, the Hospice and my mum.
