Brenda Nichol passed away on 20 November 2022 after 92 amazing years. Brenda was a passionate tennis player and coach and all-round sports fanatic. In 1968 she wrote a dissertation called 'Tennis: infant school to Wimbeldon', advocating for tennis to be made accessible and affordable for all children, and offering examples of ways to do so - many of which she put into practice as a teacher at St Martin's School, Hutton. In 1982, Brenda led the school's tennis team to the British School’s Tennis Championships at Wimbledon, where they became the first comprehensive school to win the Milborne Cup.
