Story

Hi everyone, we have decided to fundraise valuable funds for Helping Hand & The childrens Heartbeat Trust. Both charities are very important to us.

Frankie was born in Belfast Royal Maternity Hospital with an Exomphalos Major (organs on the outside of his body)and a Vsd Heart Defect. We knew of frankies conditions from 12 weeks into pregnancy and it wasnt all sunshine and rainbows with The termination card being dealt. But hey we hung in there and he made his big arrival and spent 27 days in nicu/hdu before being transferred to The childrens Hospital.

We had a long 4 month stay in hospital. Our time was spent in Barbour ward which is the surgical ward, however we had a few admissions to Picu during them months where he was intubated. It was an extremely tough time but the staff were outstanding and treated Frankie like one of their own. Each nurse got to know him and care for him so well. Frankie didnt have a great start to life and he gave us all numerous scares along the way. Nurses and doctors acted fast and efficiently to keep him alive & well as best they could and went above and beyond to comfort us as his parents. They worked so so hard and in the middle of a pandemic didnt help with the pressures they already faced. They really are superheroes!!!!  Nurses became our family/friends and barbour ward our home. We had good memories & bad but its all part of the journey. We honestly thought we were gonna loose him a few times but with his Fighting spirits & Bad boy Frankie attitude he is here to tell his story and give hope to other little boys & girls and families out there in similar situations.

We as a family will always be in debt to the hospital and the entire nursing team for their amazing care for Frankie & our family. We hope to raise as much funds as possible to help the hospital buy life changing equipment and help with the upkeep of the wards.

All money raised will be divided up between Helping hand (barbour ward & picu) & The Childrens HeartBeat Trust.

The childrens heart beat trust supported us so much. Financial and emotional support. Regular phonecalls to see how we were coping and this was very important to us, someone we could vent to if needed. Financial support during our hospital stay which was a massive help as it is a difficult time especially being a good distance from home.

All donations are very very much appreciated. No donation too small. Every little helps!

We thankyou all in advance.
