This January I'll be taking part in Brave the Chill in aid of WWF.
Sponsor me to help WWF protect our one shared home.
As many of you may know I started open water swimming at the beginning of the year as a result of being cooped up for so long during the pandemic, it was a perfect way to get out on my own and try something new! It has helped with my health enormously and given me an even closer bond with nature.
I will be taking my cold plunge before the end of January and ideally when we have some ice about! I intend to find a frozen water way (clean, not a puddle), break it and take the plunge, oh and without my suit! So if you know of somewhere suitable let me know! Every £100 donated I will remain in the water for 1 min (I will put a limit to this dependant on the amount raised and weather conditions on the day) and for every single donation of £10 or more I will give a free laser cut Christmas tree decoration.
Climate change poses the biggest threat to the future of our planet. The Earth's atmosphere is warming, faster than it probably ever has. This causes negative impacts such as the melting of Arctic sea-ice, prolonged heat-waves and rising sea-levels. It may seem a bit chilly for some of us, but the Arctic is crucial for lots of reasons. Its home to around four million people, including indigenous communities, and there's an amazing amount of wildlife too, all uniquely adapted to life in this icy landscape. Polar bears, penguins and walrus call this freezing landscape their home. But their environment is changing, because of global warming. The sea ice during the summer months is declining, and with global warming, that ice is shrinking fast. By sponsoring me to Brave the Chill, together we can help protect our one shared home.
